Maybe it is true that we don't know what we have got until we lose it, but it is also true that we don' t know what we have been missing until it arrives. Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they will love you back. Don’t expect love in return; but be content that love has grown in your own heart. It takes an hour to like someone, a day to love someone, but it takes a lifetime to forget someone. Don’t rely on one's appearance; it can deceive. Don’t rely on wealth; even that fades away. Rely on someone who makes you smile, because it takes only a smile to make a dark day seem bright. There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want to pick them from your dreams and hug them. Dream what you want to dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do. May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.Always put yourself in others' shoes. If you feel that it hurts you, it probably hurts others, too. The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the most of everything that comes along their way. Happiness waits for those who cry, those who have been hurt, those who have searched, and those who have tried, for only they can appreciate the importance of people who have touched their lives. The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past. You can't go on well in life until you let your past failures and heartaches go off. When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling. Live your life so that when you die, you are the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying.(1)You should rely on someone who makes you smile_______________.A、because a smile can make your dark time easier.B、because a smile is bright.C、because you have nothing.D、because you can believe someone(2)What does the word “assurance” mean in the first paragraph?A、returnB、promiseC、maintainD、storage(3)In the third paragraph, “Always put yourself in other's shoes” means_______________.A、you should try other's shoes before you buy it.B、you should make yourself small enough.C、you should consider from another person's aspect.D、None of the above.(4) If you are the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying when you die, you areA、SatisfiedB、UpsetC、SadD、Indifferent(冷漠的)(5)What has been mentioned in the passage?A、to tell us not to demand too muchB、to warn us not to believe in appearanceC、to consider other people and learn to forgiveD、all of the above

考题 共用题干 Superstition1.Most of today's superstitious beliefs can be traced back to those of primitive people who had no understanding of the laws of nature. They are surrounded by mysteries一lightening, rain, birth and death,to mention only a few. The apparent miracle of a flower growing from a tiny seed or an egg becoming a bird surely proved there were unseen spirits around. But since life in those times was hard and full of danger, primitive man decided there were more bad spirits than good ones. His problem was to figure out how to keep the evil spirits happy and satisfied and would not harm him. Thus out of ignorance and fear came superstition.2.Ancient people also had great faith in magic. They believe that a wish made while looking at or touching something connected with good fortune would come true. For example, the rabbit's foot became a good luck charm because of the high regard in which rabbits were held by primitive people. These people were very impressed by how swiftly rabbits ran with their strong feet. Thus their legs came to be looked upon as a powerful charm against evil forces.3.Counter-magic is a highly regarded form. It is to say or do something that was the opposite of what was really wanted. This was supposed to change bad luck to good luck.Even today some people carry an umbrella in the hope that this will keep the rain from falling. This works very well if the day happens to be dry.4.Every country or section of world has its own beliefs and superstitious customs. In primitive parts of Africa the witch doctor is common. In some parts of Europe, and in many other places, people fear the evil that they believe is directed towards them by the eyes of certain people. Many charms and signs are used to ward off the effect of the evil eyes. Most countries also have their favorite"little people"or fairies. They are sometimes naughty, kind, and sometimes helpful. They can be blamed for all misfortunes or anything that goes wrong.5.There are few people even today who are completely free of superstitious beliefs. In spite of facts and common sense, old tales have continued to influence people's thoughts and actions. On the other hand,if having a lucky charm in your pocket adds a feeling of confidence, keep it there. But realize that it has no power outside of what your thinking gives it.Much of the old folk beliefs have the charm of fairy tales.Have fun with them and enjoy them, but don't take them seriously.A lucky charm makes those who believe it_______.A:feel confidentB:blindness and dreadC:lack of knowledgeD:have superstitious beliefsE:fairies or little people F: defend evil spirits

考题 问答题Minimum wage is the lowest amount that employers can legally pay their workers per hour of labor. The first minimum wage law was passed in New Zealand in 1894. Since then, many other nations have adopted similar policies. In China, different provinces or cities have different minimum wages for their working citizens. These rates are not established randomly. In fact, they are the result of much research in economics, standard of living and inflation. Labor supply and the effects of unemployment are also considered when establishing a minimum wage. Some people support the policy of minimum wage, while others are against it. The following are opinions from both sides on this issue. Read the excerpts carefully and write your response in about 300 words, in which you should: 1. summarize briefly the opinions from both sides, and then 2. give your comment. Marks will be awarded for content relevance, content sufficiency, organization and language quality. Failure to follow the above instructions may result in a loss of marks. Many supporters of minimum wage say that it increases the standard of living and keeps people out of poverty. Those who are opposed to it tend to believe that it increases unemployment and harms less skilled workers. Minimum wage laws are established and upheld with certain goals. Those who support the laws believe that these goals are being adequately achieved and that this alone is enough justification to keep the laws in place. Minimum wage was initially established to reduce poverty. Establishing a minimum wage in China insures that people are paid properly for their work. Minimum wage also protects younger workers and minorities from being paid less than others to some extent. Supporters also believe that minimum wage stimulates consumption and thus puts more money into the economy by allowing low paid workers to spend more. They also believe that it may increase the work ethic of those who are paid little and thus benefit employers. It also encourages people to join the work force, rather than seek illegal means of earning money. People who are opposed to the idea of minimum wage believe that it is not accomplishing the goals designed to meet. In several instances, employment has decreased more than the increase in wages and thereby overall earnings are still reduced. Businesses are sometimes forced to hire fewer employees because they have to pay minimum wages. Thus, fewer people have jobs. Studies also show that very few low-wage workers actually come from families in poverty. Thus, minimum wage is more often imposed on the newly employed with the first job than on people who would otherwise be unemployed. Other opponents believe that it can cause inflation as businesses have to raise prices to accommodate the higher wages. They also believe it discourages further education of the poor.
