1、首先,在没有报名之前想检测一下自己的英文水平。

用现有的英文水平去阅读历年真题,不用急着知道答案,先看自己能否看明白题意等等,然后给自己的水平打分。要有一个大概的粗框架。

ACCA每门科目大约需要150-200小时准备。时间的长短取决于课程本身的难易、你原先对这方面知识的了解程度、时间安排的效率等诸多因素。如果你每周看书做题20-25小时,同时准备三门课要大约20周的时间。如果你觉得时间不够,就不要好高骛远,一次考两门为佳。

 2、安排切实可行的计划

当你完成了ACCA考试报名并购买了教材后,根据书的厚度,练习题量的多少,安排一个切实的学习计划。但不要太笼统,比如说,“我要1个月内看完三本书”。

先要看一下你自己的阅读速度,10page每小时大概是一个比较实际的速度。当然,各人情况不同,自己先测试一下。之后看一下练习题有多少题,估算一下练习时间。

每道题都有分值的,如果考试的时候,10分值的题目只能分配18分钟时间。作为练习,时间可以多一些,因为除了做题,你还要分析答案。所以10分值的题可以是大约用25-30分钟,一道20-30分值的中型题,最少要一个小时。

这样,整本练习册需要多少时间就基本上清楚了。也不需要全部的题目都做,以“动手做2/3,仔细阅读分析另1/3”的大概原则,或者也可以6/4开。但每一道题至少必须认真看过一遍答案。

3、ACCA历年真题要充分利用

有不少题目被直接拷贝到练习册中(他们叫authorized reproduce),也有些题目是被做过略微修改。所以,到做全真题的时候会觉得很多题目都似曾相识。

不过,做全真题的目的不是做题,而是让大家在真正的时间压力下感受一下考试的感觉,考验一下你答题,尤其是写字的速度。

4、制定一个完善的计划

基本上估算了所需的准备时间后,你就可以制定一个完善的计划。

5、根据实际情况调整计划进度

计划不要排得太满,万一碰到工作很忙或者学习很紧张,还可以与空时相互调剂,要严格按计划执行。另外,开始执行后的1个月左右做一次总结,根据实际情况适当调整计划的进度。

6、安排好临考前的几天计划

临阵磨枪,不快也光,所以临考前的几天是很重要的。如果能请3-5天的假在家好好看书。把时间分配给做历年全真题,以及自己平时总结的study notes等。

matters that have been left for your attention on the audit working paper file for the year ended 30 September

2005:

(i) Jinack holds an extensive range of inventory and keeps perpetual inventory records. There was no full

physical inventory count at 30 September 2005 as a system of continuous stock checking is operated by

warehouse personnel under the supervision of an internal audit department.

A major systems failure in October 2005 caused the perpetual inventory records to be corrupted before the

year-end inventory position was determined. As data recovery procedures were found to be inadequate,

Jinack is reconstructing the year-end quantities through a physical count and ‘rollback’. The reconstruction

exercise is expected to be completed in January 2006. (6 marks)

Required:

Identify and comment on the implications of the above matters for the auditor’s report on the financial

statements of Jinack Co for the year ended 30 September 2005 and, where appropriate, the year ending

(i) Corruption of perpetual inventory records
■ The loss of data (of physical inventory quantities at the balance sheet date) gives rise to a limitation on scope.
Tutorial note: It is the records of the asset that have been destroyed – not the physical asset.
■ The systems failure in October 2005 is clearly a non-adjusting post balance sheet event (IAS 10). If it is material
(such that non-disclosure could influence the economic decisions of users) Jinack should disclose:
– the nature of the event (i.e. systems failure); and
– an estimate of its financial effect (i.e. the cost of disruption and reconstruction of data to the extent that it is
not covered by insurance).
Tutorial note: The event has no financial effect on the realisability of inventory, only on its measurement for the

30 September 2005 (see later). If such disclosure, that the auditor considers to be necessary, is not made, the

Tutorial note: Such qualifications are extremely rare since management should be persuaded to make necessary
disclosure in the notes to the financial statements rather than have users’ attention drawn to the matter through
a qualification of the audit opinion.
■ The limitation on scope of the auditor’s work has been imposed by circumstances. Jinack’s accounting records
(for inventory) are inadequate (non-existent) for the auditor to perform. tests on them.
■ An alternative procedure to obtain sufficient appropriate audit evidence of inventory quantities at a year end is
subsequent count and ‘rollback’. However, the extent of ‘roll back’ testing is limited as records are still under
reconstruction.
■ The auditor may be able to obtain sufficient evidence that there is no material misstatement through a combination
of procedures:
– testing management’s controls over counting inventory after the balance sheet date and recording inventory
movements (e.g. sales and goods received);
– reperforming the reconstruction for significant items on a sample basis;
– analytical procedures such as a review of profit margins by inventory category.
■ ‘An extensive range of inventory’ is clearly material. The matter (i.e. systems failure) is not however pervasive, as
only inventory is affected.
■ Unless the reconstruction is substantially completed (i.e. inventory items not accounted for are insignificant) the
auditor cannot determine what adjustment, if any, might be determined to be necessary. The auditor’s report
should then be modified, ‘except for’, limitation on scope.
■ However, if sufficient evidence is obtained the auditor’s report should be unmodified.
■ An ‘emphasis of matter’ paragraph would not be appropriate because this matter is not one of significant
uncertainty.
Tutorial note: An uncertainty in this context is a matter whose outcome depends on future actions or events not
under the direct control of Jinack.
2006
■ If the 2005 auditor’s report is qualified ‘except for’ on grounds of limitation on scope there are two possibilities for
the inventory figure as at 30 September 2005 determined on completion of the reconstruction exercise:
(1) it is not materially different from the inventory figure reported; or
(2) it is materially different.
■ In (1), with the limitation now removed, the need for qualification is removed and the 2006 auditor’s report would
be unmodified (in respect of this matter).
■ In (2) the opening position should be restated and the comparatives adjusted in accordance with IAS 8 ‘Accounting
Policies, Changes in Accounting Estimates and Errors’. The 2006 auditor’s report would again be unmodified.
Tutorial note: If the error was not corrected in accordance with IAS 8 it would be a different matter and the
auditor’s report would be modified (‘except for’ qualification) disagreement on accounting treatment.

(iii) The effect of the restructuring on the group’s ability to recover directly and non-directly attributable input

tax. (6 marks)

You are required to prepare calculations in respect of part (ii) only of this part of this question.

Note: – You should assume that the corporation tax rates and allowances for the financial year 2006 apply

Prior to the restructuring
Rapier Ltd and Switch Ltd make wholly standard rated supplies and are in a position to recover all of their input tax
other than that which is specifically blocked. Dirk Ltd and Flick Ltd are unable to register for VAT as they do not make
taxable supplies. Accordingly, they cannot recover any of their input tax.
Following the restructuring
Rapier Ltd will be carrying on four separate trades, two of which involve the making of exempt supplies such that it will
be a partially exempt trader. Its recoverable input tax will be calculated as follows.
– Input tax in respect of inputs wholly attributable to taxable supplies is recoverable.
– Input tax in respect of inputs wholly attributable to exempt supplies cannot be recovered (subject to the de minimis
limits below).
– A proportion of the company’s residual input tax, i.e. input tax in respect of inputs which cannot be directly
attributed to particular supplies, is recoverable. The proportion is taxable supplies (VAT exclusive) divided by total
supplies (VAT exclusive). This proportion is rounded up to the nearest whole percentage where total residual input
tax is no more than £400,000 per quarter.
The balance of the residual input tax cannot be recovered (subject to the de minimis limits below).
– If the de minimis limits are satisfied, Rapier Ltd will be able to recover all of its input tax (other than that which is
specifically blocked) including that which relates to exempt supplies. The de minimis limits are satisfied where the
irrecoverable input tax:
– is less than or equal to £625 per month on average; and
– is less than or equal to 50% of total input tax.
The impact of the restructuring on the group’s ability to recover its input tax will depend on the level of supplies made
by the different businesses and the amounts of input tax involved. The restructuring could result in the group being able
to recover all of its input tax (if the de minimis limits are satisfied). Alternatively the amount of irrecoverable input tax
may be more or less than the amounts which cannot be recovered by Dirk Ltd and Flick Ltd under the existing group
structure.

its markets that means direct comparisons will be hard to make. Certainly, it can carry out historical benchmarking in

an unwillingness to change. There is also the danger that you are solving today’s problems with yesterday’s solutions. A good
competitor will be trying to maintain its competitive advantage through constantly improving its processes. It also has a vested
interest in trying to prevent its improvements from being revealed to its competitors. Also, many of the ‘softer’ processes –
typically involving people – are difficult if not impossible to replicate in another organisation. These advantages are to do with
culture and leadership and not easily transferable to another organisation and the context in which it is operating.
