Part 1 (Questions 1-7)
这部分有7个问题和4段文章。要求考生阅读文章,根据文章提供的信息选择与文章意思一致的句子。这部分相对来说不很难。需要注意的是,短文只有4段,而问题有7个,这样有重复选择,考生要当心似是而非的答案。
Part 2 (Questions 8-12)
这部分较难,主要考学生对文章结构的理解。考生需要理解文章,根据上下文来选择答案,一般来说,考生要先阅读文章,然后,阅读提供的句子,从逻辑推理到意义的连贯等方面来确定答案。
Part 3 (Questions 13-18)
这部分为阅读理解,与大学英语四、六级考试的阅读理解相似,主要考对文章大意和某一特定意义的理解。考生要先快速阅读文章,然后读懂选择题,在文章中找到与4个选项中意义相同或相近的答案。考生必须弄懂文章蕴涵的意思。一般来说,考生可以根据问题的意思,按照顺序到文章中找到文章中找到相关的句子,然后确定选择项。
Part 4 (Questions 19-33)
这部分类似大学英语四、六级考试卷中的完型填空(cloze)。该部分不是考对文章的理解,而是考语法、词汇和结构。如词的搭配、固定短语等。但是,考生首先仍然必须阅读文章,了解文章的大意,在这个基础上再根据上下文确定最佳选择。
Part 5 (Questions 34-45)

商务英语证书(BEC)考试近年来被各类涉外企业、部门用来作为招收职员时英语能力的证明;同时也是商务工作人员或英语学习者检验、提高英语水平的方式。由于很多即将进入职场的学生或已工作的青年把该证书作为就业、求职的重要砝码,因此BEC考试也被称为“商务求职通行证”。
自2002年5月BEC考试采用新题型以来,BEC Vantage阅读与BEC Higher阅读相比,只是少了单词填空这一部分,其余题型完全一致。然而要求在1小时内做完6部分共50多题并获得高分,难度就很高。
抓住中心和基本点
5篇100字左右的小短文,8个选项,选择出各个选项属于哪篇短文论述的内容。这部分主要是考查考生迅速找出短文Main Idea的能力。正确的做题方法是先读提示第一句,把握5篇短文共同论述的大致范围。然后直接阅读短文。阅读的时候,用笔在考卷上划出“一个中心,两个基本点”。“一个中心”指短文的中心思想Main Idea。“两个基本点”是除Main Idea以外重要的、十分特殊的论点。从5篇短文中找出15个左右的考点,解题的速度可大大提高。
句子填空题:弄清逻辑上的衔接
这部分对我国考生而言有很高的难度,因为它考查了中国人说话写文章最缺少严密的逻辑性。西文,尤其是商务文章极其讲究逻辑的缜密性,中心思想明确,意群(段)之间有清晰的逻辑关系,句与句之间紧密相连。知道了这样的思维差异,在解题时便有了方向:通过各种衔接手段来解题。词汇的衔接、语法的衔接,最重要的是逻辑上的衔接。
其实,任何两句话之间的逻辑关系不外乎两种情况:不是顺着意思讲下去(顺接)就是意思发生了转折(逆接)。判断空格前后句之间的顺逆接关系,再寻找正确的选项解题就容易多了。平时考生在做阅读训练的时候要特别注意句子之间的逻辑关系。
阅读理解题:跳跃式阅读
这部分其实是前两部分的综合。在读文章时只需抓住文章和各段的Main Idea即可,有较强阅读能力的考生尽可能地快速读出句子之间的逻辑关系,而细节内容一律略去。用这种“跳跃式阅读法”效果很好。解题时,学生要放松心态,因为题目不难,只是在做一个“定位+同义词、近义词”游戏罢了。值得注意的是这部分与四六级及考研阅读理解题不同,BEC阅读理解题目不能过细地去推敲,正确选项一般都是原句+改写。
完型填空题:习惯用法结合语境
考点词汇一般不是商务术语,是四级以下的普通词汇。大多题目较容易,有个别题目较难。学生应该从搭配、习惯用法结合语境的方法解题。不过,想在此部分得满分是极难的。考生不要轻信自己的语感,这种感觉可能是错觉,真正的语感是以长期积累的实力为基础的。
将BEC经常考核的知识点简要地总结并牢记在大脑里,BEC语法题历年考试所涉及的语法点十分有限。牢记住考点语法名称,完全可以在这两部分取得好成绩。
