A考试在内容上分为知识和原理两部分,前期打基础,需要记忆的知识点比较多,但越到后期,越考查考生的思维能力。偏偏在思维能力上,只有通过不断的练习来掌握,从来没有捷径可走。所以考前突击并非打开ACCA考试的正确方式。
那些成功的考生们,总是能保持一个平稳的复习进度,每天的学习时间和游戏时间互不侵占,学习生活两不误。
二:说到做到,有执行力
太多的备考经验在强调制定复习计划的重要性,然而,多少人在复习计划指定完第二天就起不来床?
每个人都会计划,但并不是每个人都有执行计划的能力。考试和人生中的大多数挑战一样,需要一份坚定不移,说到做到的气概才能终取得胜利。
前不久,在微博上看到了这么一条消息,一位外卖小哥利用每天下班后的一两个小时来学习,就为了准备一个证书考试。要说工作忙碌或是生活条件不允许,谁又有这位外卖小哥条件差呢?这位外卖小哥在面对记者询问时回答说,送外卖只是暂时的,考证是为了以后找新的工作。
许多考生们也一样,考证的 初动机就是为了摆脱现在的岗位和不满意的薪水,在职场走的更高。但即便有这样的动机,许多人却没有相应的执行力将自己的决定变为现实。
执行力差这件事, 大的坏处是会损害自信。一次计划未能成功执行,往往会导致对于自己能力的怀疑,次数多了之后,就更不敢再制定计划了,“随缘”“佛系”考生,就诞生了。
其实,在执行力上,不必非得逆着自己的生活习惯来制定计划。一个明明不习惯早起的人,就不必设定每天7点起床,假如将每天的计划定为起床之后学习两个小时,那么执行起来会容易很多。
三:善于总结归纳
一些对自己要求较高的考生在复习时,会设计类似高考那样的3轮复习方案。第一轮吃透课本,第二轮刷题为主,第三轮总结归纳。而事实上,在总结归纳上,很考验每个考生的能力。
在ACCA复习上流行一句话,客观题考的是点,主观题考的是面。ACCA考到 后会发现,如何形成这个面才是问题关键所在。而历年高分通过ACCA的那些考生们都有自己的总结归纳法宝。

四:合理安排考试顺序
ACCA一共15门课程共分为两个阶段,分别是F阶段和P阶段,其中又分为几个部分,F1-F3属于知识课程部分,F4-F9属于技能课程部分,SBL-SBR属于核心课程部分,P4-P7(选修两门)属于选修课程部分。考生只需通过13门考试即可。

(b) (i) Contrasting roles
Joint professional and organisational roles are common to most professionals (medical professionals, for example).
Although the roles are rarely in conflict, in most cases it is assumed that any professional’s primary duty is to the public
interest rather than the organisation.
Organisational role
As a member of the staff of Fillmore Pierce, Anne is a part of the hierarchy of an organisation and answerable to her
seniors. This means that under normal circumstances, she should comply with the requirements of her seniors. As an
employee, Anne is ultimately accountable to the principals of the organisation (the partners in an audit firm or the
shareholders in a company), and, she is subject to the cultural norms and reasonable expectations of work-group
membership. It is expected that her behaviour at work will conform. to the social and cultural norms of the organisation
and that she will be efficient and hard working in her job.
Professional role
As an accountant, Anne is obliged to maintain the high professional and ethical standards of her profession. If her
profession is underpinned by an ethical or professional code, she will need to comply with that in full. She needs to
manage herself and co-ordinate her activities so as to meet professional standards. In this, she needs to ensure that she
informs herself in current developments in her field and undertakes continuing professional development as required by
her professional accounting body. She is and will remain accountable to her professional body in terms of continued
registration and professional behaviour. In many cases, this accountability will be more important than an accountability

4 CLEEVES CO
(a) Reporting non-compliance
Non-compliance refers to acts of omission or commission by the entity being audited, either intentional or unintentional, that
are contrary to the prevailing laws or regulations.
To management
Regarding non-compliance that comes to the auditor’s attention the auditor should, as soon as practicable, either:
■ communicate with those charged with governance; or
■ obtain audit evidence that they are appropriately informed.
However, the auditor need not do so for matters that are clearly inconsequential or trivial and may reach agreement1 in
advance on the nature of such matters to be communicated.
If in the auditor’s judgment the non-compliance is believed to be intentional and material, the auditor should communicate
the finding without delay.
If the auditor suspects that members of senior management are involved in non-compliance, the auditor should report the
matter to the next higher level of authority at the entity, if it exists (e.g. an audit committee or a supervisory board). Where
no higher authority exists, or if the auditor believes that the report may not be acted upon or is unsure as to the person to
whom to report, the auditor would consider seeking legal advice.
To the users of the auditor’s report on the financial statements
If the auditor concludes that the non-compliance has a material effect on the financial statements, and has not been properly
reflected in the financial statements, the auditor expresses a qualified (i.e. ‘except for disagreement’) or an adverse opinion.
If the auditor is precluded by the entity from obtaining sufficient appropriate audit evidence to evaluate whether or not noncompliance
that may be material to the financial statements has (or is likely to have) occurred, the auditor should express a
qualified opinion or a disclaimer of opinion on the financial statements on the basis of a limitation on the scope of the audit.
Tutorial note: For example, if management denies the auditor access to information from which he would be able to assess
whether or not illegal dumping had taken place (and, if so, the extent of it).
If the auditor is unable to determine whether non-compliance has occurred because of limitations imposed by circumstances
rather than by the entity, the auditor should consider the effect on the auditor’s report.
Tutorial note: For example, if new legal requirements have been announced as effective but the detailed regulations are not
yet published.
To regulatory and enforcement authorities
The auditor’s duty of confidentiality ordinarily precludes reporting non-compliance to a third party. However, in certain
circumstances, that duty of confidentiality is overridden by statute, law or by courts of law (e.g. in some countries the auditor
is required to report non-compliance by financial institutions to the supervisory authorities). The auditor may need to seek
legal advice in such circumstances, giving due consideration to the auditor’s responsibility to the public interest.
(c) Describe the main stages of a formal grievance procedure that Oliver should now pursue. (10 marks)
Part (c):
Grievance procedures must be accessible to all employees of Hoopers and Henderson at any level of the organisation and
regardless of their status. Managers must have suitable training in procedures and be provided with background as to how
grievances can occur in the first place. Grievance procedures must be regarded as beneficial and not threatening.
If an employee has a grievance, he or she should be able to pursue it and have the problem which has led to the grievance resolved.
A formal grievance procedure must be available, set out in writing and accessible to all employees. The procedure should consist
of five formal stages.
The first stage states the grade of employee or employees and their rights for each type of grievance.
The second stage details the actual procedures for pursuing a grievance, and is in four parts:
– The employee must discuss the grievance with his or her immediate supervisor or line manager.
– If the grievance can not be resolved at the first level, then the employee’s manager must become involved.
– The interview between the employee and manager takes place with the employee being allowed a representative if desired.
– If the grievance remains unresolved then the matter must be referred to a higher manager.
The third stage (referral to a higher manager) requires that the Human Resources Department or, in the case of Hoopers and
Henderson the partner responsible, must be informed.
The fourth stage is that written records must be kept and be available to all employees.
Finally, the procedure must be time limited.
Allowance must be made for the involvement of a trade union, staff association or individual support (if desired) at an appropriate
stage in the procedure.
At Hoopers and Henderson, Oliver has attempted to discuss the issue with his immediate manager (David Morgan) but without
success. He has therefore followed the procedure, but to continue correctly, Oliver must have taken up his grievance with the
manager next in seniority to David Morgan, who in this case is the partner responsible for human resources.
