报考建议
F2的考试一般建议大家在结课之后一个月左右考试,因为F2是一门刷题型的科目,需要留出足够的做题,并且考前也需要模拟考进行练习;但也不宜太晚考,有些需要记忆的知识点容易遗忘。因此,F2最简单也是最直截了当的复习技巧就是题海战术,当然大家可以根据自己的实际情况进行调整,如果备考时间充裕,也可以缩短备考时间,如果碰上了学校的考试周,或者有自己的比较忙的事情,也可以适当拉长。
备考建议
① 备考初期:F2主要以刷题为主。F2是管理会计,偏计算,但是计算水平要求其实也很低,重要的是细心点,把题看懂。
在ACCA的官网中也有样卷与模考卷可以练习,其中样卷是可以免费进入,进行练习的,模考卷的练习是需要付7英镑的费用。:
② 临考准备:如果大家已经看完网课,也做了一定量的习题了后,这个时候应该要明确自己薄弱的地方在哪里。哪部分知识点比较薄弱,就花费多一点的时间去复习,反之就少花费一点时间。建议大家可以像考试一样,在电脑上认真地花两个小时做一套模拟卷,并且进行批改,看看自己在考试中会遇到什么问题。
如果觉得两个小时的时间不够,做不完,说明做题的速度不够,需要提高做题速度。那么再做一遍题库,或者找其他的练习册再进行题海战略是必要的。
如果发现某个知识点的题目都需要花特别多的时间,或错误率非常高,那么说明对这部分的知识掌握的并不是很好,需要再次反复去巩固这部分的知识点,这部分有关的网课以及习题是需要再重新回顾1-2遍的。
如果觉得用电脑看题自己非常不适应,会非常影响自己的思路和速度,那么平时就不要在纸质的练习册上做题了,应该多练练,比如可以在电脑上做电子版的练习册或题库,使自己更适应机考。
总之大家可以通过模拟考的形式明确自己的弱点,进行加强后再在考试前练习一次,这样考试前就不会太紧张。但考试紧张也是会在所难的,所以就要要求大家及时调整心态,快速找回考试状态。

2 Misson, a public limited company, has carried out transactions denominated in foreign currency during the financial
year ended 31 October 2006 and has conducted foreign operations through a foreign entity. Its functional and
presentation currency is the dollar. A summary of the foreign currency activities is set out below:
(a) Misson has a 100% owned foreign subsidiary, Chong, which was formed on 1 November 2004 with a share
capital of 100 million euros which has been taken as the cost of the investment. The total shareholders’ equity
of the subsidiary as at 31 October 2005 and 31 October 2006 was 140 million euros and 160 million euros
respectively. Chong has not paid any dividends to Misson and has no other reserves than retained earnings in its
financial statements. The subsidiary was sold on 31 October 2006 for 195 million euros.
Misson would like to know how to treat the sale of the subsidiary in the parent and group accounts for the year
ended 31 October 2006. (8 marks)
Required:
Discuss the accounting treatment of the above transactions in accordance with the advice required by the
directors.

3 An organisation has decided to compare the benefits of promoting existing staff with those of appointing external
candidates and to assess whether the use of external recruitment consultants is appropriate.

(a) Describe the advantages of internal promotion. (5 marks)
3 All organisations rely upon their staff for success. However, recruitment of staff can be time consuming; a drain on resources and the necessary expertise may not exist within the organisation.
(a) Internal promotion describes the situation where an organisation has an explicit policy to promote from within and where there is a clear and transparent career structure. This is typical of many professional bodies, large organisations and public services.
The advantages of internal promotion are that it acts as a source of motivation, provides good general morale amongst employees and illustrates the organisation’s commitment to encouraging advancement. Recruitment is expensive and internal promotion is relatively inexpensive in terms of time, money and induction costs and since staff seeking promotion are known to the employer, training costs are minimised. Finally, the culture of the organisation is better understood by the individual.
JOL Co was the market leader with a share of 30% three years ago. The managing director of JOL Co stated at a
recent meeting of the board of directors that: ‘our loss of market share during the last three years might lead to the
end of JOL Co as an organisation and therefore we must address this issue immediately’.
Required:
(b) Discuss the statement of the managing director of JOL Co and discuss six performance indicators, other than
decreasing market share, which might indicate that JOL Co might fail as a corporate entity. (10 marks)
(b) It would appear that JOL’s market share has declined from 30% to (80 – 26)/3 = 18% during the last three years. A 12%
fall in market share is probably very significant with a knock-on effect on profits and resultant cash flows. Obviously such a
declining trend needs to be arrested immediately and this will require a detailed investigation to be undertaken by the directors
of JOL. Consequently loss of market share can be seen to be an indicator of potential corporate failure. Other indicators of
corporate failure are as follows:
Six performance indicators that an organisation might fail are as follows:
Poor cash flow
Poor cash flow might render an organisation unable to pay its debts as and when they fall due for payment. This might mean,
for example, that providers of finance might be able to invoke the terms of a loan covenant and commence legal action against
an organisation which might eventually lead to its winding-up.
Lack of new production/service introduction
Innovation can often be seen to be the difference between ‘life and death’ as new products and services provide continuity
of income streams in an ever-changing business environment. A lack of new product/service introduction may arise from a
shortage of funds available for re-investment. This can lead to organisations attempting to compete with their competitors with
an out of date range of products and services, the consequences of which will invariably turn out to be disastrous.
General economic conditions
Falling demand and increasing interest rates can precipitate the demise of organisations. Highly geared organisations will
suffer as demand falls and the weight of the interest burden increases. Organisations can find themselves in a vicious circle
as increasing amounts of interest payable are paid from diminishing gross margins leading to falling profits/increasing losses
and negative cash flows. This leads to the need for further loan finance and even higher interest burden, further diminution
in margins and so on.
Lack of financial controls
The absence of sound financial controls has proven costly to many organisations. In extreme circumstances it can lead to
outright fraud (e.g. Enron and WorldCom).
Internal rivalry
The extent of internal rivalry that exists within an organisation can prove to be of critical significance to an organisation as
managerial effort is effectively channeled into increasing the amount of internal conflict that exists to the detriment of the
organisation as a whole. Unfortunately the adverse consequences of internal rivalry remain latent until it is too late to redress
them.
Loss of key personnel
In certain types of organisation the loss of key personnel can ‘spell the beginning of the end’ for an organisation. This is
particularly the case when individuals possess knowledge which can be exploited by direct competitors, e.g. sales contacts,
product specifications, product recipes, etc.
